Winter Sunsets - Rare, but spectacular

During the gray northwest winter months, I have two things always at the ready: a battery pack and flashlight kit for power outages, and a camera packed and waiting for sudden photo ops.

Northwest winters are gray and dark and cold and rainy and gray, and did i mention GRAY? But every now and then, just before the sun goes to bed for the night (around 4:30 pm!), it will punch a fist through the clouds and let in some of the most spectacular sunset colors of the year. And I am always ready! These opportunities are rare, and they are so uplifting after weeks of gray. They are not to be missed for sure.
