SERENITY NOW - Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia
Serenity now; insanity later.
And indeed, insanity would come soon enough to this bustling tourist port. But for now, it’s just the anchored boats, the sleepy sun, and me, quietly watching the morning mist dance silently across the water, admiring its own delicate movements in the mirror below.
How will these boats feel when the world awakens and this peace is shattered? When the sun stretches her arms and slices through the heavy air, scattering it into a million buzzing pieces? When the gulls begin their sharp cries and frantic breakfast hunts? I’ll never know for certain, but I like to imagine they’ll greet the waking day much as I do - with a joy almost imperceptibly tainted by a longing for the serenity of dawn.
