SPLASH - Cape Disappointment, WA
Just when I thought it was safe to stand and admire the view—whoosh! The ocean leapt up and smacked the rocks with a grin wide enough to drench me, saltwater spraying forward like confetti at a surprise party. “Wake up! I’m here!” said the sea.
The lighthouse rolled her eyes, used to these antics. She knows the waves are show-offs, forever trying to steal the spotlight with their acrobatics. Crash after crash, splash after splash, each one insists it’s the grand finale—until the next wave arrives, louder and wilder, demanding its turn.
It’s hard not to laugh with them. Sometimes life splashes you right in the face, not to knock you down, but to wake you up and make sure you’re still alive.
