When the tide pulls back, the ocean lays bare its hidden treasures. Sea stars and anemones, mussels and barnacles—creatures of the in-between—suddenly find themselves exposed to light, air, and watchful eyes. In that moment of vulnerability, what is usually concealed reveals unexpected beauty.

I think that we, too, hold entire worlds beneath the surface, hidden and guarded. When we dare to reveal our hidden selves—our vulnerable places and unpolished truths—something remarkable happens. Like the exposed rocks and tide pools of the beach, our vulnerability becomes a window to wonder. In exposure, we are not diminished; we are illuminated.
